A ceremony has an order. We already know it.
At a naming ceremony the important moments come fast and they do not repeat. The prayers. The tasting. The moment the baby's name is spoken aloud for the first time and the room reacts. A photographer meeting the tradition for the first time is reading the room while it happens; we are already standing where we need to be.
With babies the job is different again. You cannot direct a nine-month-old, so we do not try. We set the light, stay patient, and wait for the child to be themselves. It takes longer. It is the only way to get photographs that look like your actual kid.

How a session runs
We plan it together
On the free call we talk through timing, outfits and whether studio or home suits your family better. Babies photograph best after a feed and a nap, so we build the time around that.
We shoot at your pace
No rushing, no forced poses. Breaks for feeding and settling are part of the plan, not an interruption to it.
You choose your favourites
Your proofing gallery arrives within seven days. Mark the ones you love, we hand-edit them, and prints and albums are available from the same gallery.
Questions parents ask
Do you photograph Nigerian naming ceremonies in Calgary?
Yes, regularly. We know the sequence, from the prayers and the tasting of the symbolic items to the presentation of the baby and the family portraits afterwards, so the camera is already in the right place when each moment arrives.
How old should my baby be for a newborn session?
Between five and fourteen days is ideal for a sleepy newborn session. After that we shift to a lifestyle approach, which works beautifully at any age. Milestone sessions at three, six, nine and twelve months are popular.
Where do baby sessions happen?
Either in studio or in your home in Calgary. Home sessions suit newborns because everything the baby needs is already there and nobody has to pack a car.
What should we wear?
We send a short guide once you book, and we keep a wardrobe of simple wraps and props for babies and mothers. Soft, plain colours photograph best, and we will happily plan outfits with you on the call.
How long does a session take?
Maternity and milestone sessions run about 90 minutes. Newborn sessions run two to three hours because we work at the baby's pace, with breaks for feeding and settling.
When do we get the photos?
A proofing gallery arrives within seven days. You choose your favourites, we hand-edit them, and the final gallery follows within two to three weeks.
Do you photograph birthday parties in Calgary?
Yes, from first birthdays in studio to milestone birthdays at a venue. A 40th, 50th or 60th is covered like any other celebration: arrivals, speeches, the cake, family groups and the dancing, with live streaming available for family abroad.
