Extended family sessions, convocation portraits, headshots and fashion work. In studio, in one of Calgary's parks, or wherever your family already likes to be together.
Sessions from 30 minutes. Proofing gallery in seven days.
Portraits that look like the people in them
Most families arrive a little stiff. Somebody has been bribed into a shirt, somebody else hates being photographed, and everyone is watching the camera waiting to be told what to do. The first ten minutes of a session are spent getting past that, because a row of people saying cheese is not a family photograph.
We work with light, a few loose prompts and a lot of patience, and we keep shooting through the parts people think are not the photo. Those are usually the frames that end up on the wall.

Family photography questions
How much is a family photo session in Calgary?
Our family sessions start at $450 for 90 minutes with 20 edited images. Extended family sessions with more than eight people start at $650 because they need more time and a second set of hands.
What are the best locations for family photos in Calgary?
Fish Creek Park, Bowness Park, the Reader Rock Garden and the Confederation Park pathways all photograph well, and we have favourite spots within each. In winter we move indoors to the studio, which works just as well.
When is the best time of year for outdoor family photos?
Late August through early October gives the best light and colour in Calgary, and those dates book out first. Spring and winter sessions are quieter and often more relaxed.
Do you photograph graduation and convocation portraits?
Yes, in studio with your gown and hood, or on campus at the University of Calgary, Mount Royal or SAIT. Family group shots after the individual portraits are included.
Do you do professional headshots?
Yes. Individual headshots take about 30 minutes, and we offer team rates for companies photographing several people in one visit.
What if my kids will not cooperate?
They usually do not, and that is fine. We plan for it, keep the session short and let them move. The photographs people frame are almost never the posed ones.
